After the mounting and u depending tension in the first four book in this series , it was nice to see the protagonist Astrid, fall into some security and normalcy. There was enough conflict and suspense to keep the reader interested, but, ultimately, one wants to see Astrid settle into a normal life away from her oppressive and abusive dysfunctional parents. This series would make a great television serial for the CBC, much like HEARTLAND, which is popular here in the US. Genevieve Mckay is making a solid contribution to young adult literature and, I hope, empowering children in abusive families to seek help in fighting g the cycle and getting into healthier circumstances.My only criticism is that this volume seemed poorly edited and not as crisply written as the previous four. However, that may just be a by-product of the conversion to Kindle format.I look forward to the next book if one is planned!
